At school, they told us that if we ever see drugs, call 911 because people who use drugs need help… . I thought the police would come get the drugs and tell them that drugs are wrong. They never said they would arrest them. It didn’t say that in the video. The police officer held me by the shoulder and made me watch them put handcuffs on my mom and dad and put them in the police car. I always thought police were honest and told the truth. But in court, I heard them tell the judge that I wanted my mom and dad arrested. That is a lie. I did not tell them that.

Twitter Racists React to ‘That Nigger’ Getting Reelected

I’m not even going to give these idiots and their racist, offensive words the visual time of day. If you’re curious to see what kind of vile bigotry still runs rampant in this country — and coming from the mouths (keyboards?) of high school students, no less — feel free to click though.

Why I will post this, though, is that because some smart commenter went through “the Google” and discovered many of these racists are high school students pursuing athletic scholarships at big-name colleges. (Gasp! They might even have to play with black people.)

So, to keep the Google chain going, I’m gonna just post their names and affiliations here in the hopes that the recruiters at the schools these bigots hope to get full scholarships for rescind any admissions offers. Other people are writing letters to the schools in question, but I think this does the job well enough.

Political disagreements: Cool. Racism: Not cool.

Ricky Catanzaro - football player at Xaverian High School in Brooklyn
Lou LaDonna - football player at West Islip High School
Kordie Girton - baseball scholarship to Indiana State University
Addison Sykes - football player at Jackson Christian Jackson, TN
Brandon Norrie - baseball player at Sickles High School Tampa, FL
Michelle Brosam - soccer player at Rider HS Wichita Falls, Texas
Cole Krut - baseball player at Beaver Falls, PA
Demi Keely - pageant girl in Carencro, Louisiana
Gabe Dutch - baseball player at Redwood HS Visalia, CA
Stehl Taylor - hockey player at Central York HS York, PA
Davis Moody - runner at Mill Creek HS Hoschton, Georgia

FUCK THE FOUNDING FATHERS!

knowyourprivileges:

I absolutely hate when people use the argument “Well that’s not how are founding fathers thought the country should be run” to shut down and end any debate. I understand the argument and the importance of historical tradition and interpretation  BUT please shut the fuck up!

The Founding Fathers were not infallible, God-like people. In fact they were horrible, fucked-up people! They owned slaves, thought Black people were 3/5ths of a person, denied the civil rights and civil liberties to women, etc. Also, I think we need to remind people that it is 2012 and NOT 1787! To say the world has changed dramatically since then would be the understatement of the millennium.

At this point, I think we need to be asking ourselves about how we think this nation should be governed. We need to stop bickering about how we think a bunch racist, sexist White men from over 200 years ago would have answered our nation’s vastly changing problems.

Did Mitt Romney cheat in Wednesday’s debate? This slowed-down closeup posted to YouTube makes it appear as though he reaches into his pocket, pulls out a paper and places it on his lectern, in violation of rules that stated:

No props, notes, charts, diagrams, or other writings or other tangible things may be brought into the debate by any candidate.

Voting in America should be the easiest thing that you will ever do as an American citizen.  It should be, but for far too many, it’s anything but easy.
Voting is important, never as much as it in 2012.  A message needs to be sent to those who want to deny certain Americans the right to vote without difficulties in the hopes that they won’t at all.
The message that We The People need to send is YOU WON’T STOP US FROM VOTING!

Hey, all you Seniors who are already over 55! Not to worry! We’re not coming for YOUR MEDICARE!

leftish:

We’re just coming for your KIDS MEDICARE!

What is wrong with these Romney/Ryan sheeple?  Don’t they care about their own children at all?  Do they care SO LITTLE about the future (be it the future health of our planet, or of their own offspring) that they don’t even realize what a completely selfish stance this is to take?  Not only that, but they kind of brag about how cool this is, too!

“WE’RE NOT COMIN’ AFTER YOUR MEDICARE..we’re gunnin’ for.your kids and grandkids, yes, but what do you care?  You don’t have to worry about your own future!  That’s all that really matters, right?  Aren’t we awesome! Vote for us!”

I truly don’t understand their Ayn Randian position. We only care about ourselves?  How DUMB and SELFISH do they think American Seniors ARE?

I mean SERIOUSLY, what’s wrong with these people?

Five Myths About Crime in Black America—and the Statistical Truths

In the wake of Trayvon Martin’s death, we’ve seen a lot of discussion of the larger societal issues that play into how and when people are perceived as criminals. There were hoodies, there were marches, and there were frank talks from parent to child about how to minimize the danger of being a young person of color. On the other side, there were justifications of George Zimmerman’s actions: a smear campaign against Martin’s character, and plenty of writers explaining that statistically, blacks are simply more dangerous to be around.
That framing ignores the realities behind the numbers. Here are five myths about crime and people of color.

If some of these folks were around when Columbus set sail, they probably would have been founding members of the Flat Earth Society. Maybe they would have agreed with one of the pioneers of the radio who apparently said, “Television won’t last. It’s a flash in the pan.” … They might have even sided with one of my predecessors, President Rutherford B. Hayes, who reportedly said this about the telephone: “It’s a great invention but who would ever want to use one?
